fire lookout towers house fire lookouts, who are people tasked with watching and reporting on wildfires in the wilderness. the towers are usually wooden, or sometimes metal, usually capping at about 14 x 14 ft. here is an example of what the inside can look like:

fire lookouts use this to map out where wildfires are, using the two sighting holes located on the protruding part of the device. if a fire is spotted, it is reported to a fire supression crew by radio or phone. other duties include reporting weather changes, and general upkeep of the tower. many towers are pretty barebones in terms of accommodations, often going without electricity or running water. lookouts survive off of delivered food and other supplies. more tba!!!
